Forensic Engineering

Forensic Engineering is the investigation of systems that fail to function in order to determine the causes of failure. Forensic engineering findings are often used in legal proceedings to assign liability and allocate damages. Many forensic engineers specialize in structural, geotechnical and construction issues.

We practice only in the water resources areas of expertise described here – Hydrologic, Hydraulic, Sedimentation, and Navigation Engineering plus physical and numerical modeling. We provide forensic engineering and expert witness services only in selected cases and always with the understanding that our results are impartial, not advocacy. We subscribe to the ethics code of the American Society of Civil Engineers, which requires that we “…hold paramount the safety, health and welfare of the public …” and “… act in professional matters for each employer or client as faithful agents or trustees…”.

Our forensic engineering projects, including those which we provided expert testimony, are included in the specialty areas listed at the left side.
